A project we call
"Blue Eleanor" has a tale to tell. It was originally a factory
Candy Apple Red "A" code 1967 Fastback. As a wrecked car way back
in 1986 for it was purchased for $50.00.
Over the next 20 years it sat in the Mustangs Plus bone yard and
was picked over of all it's good parts, as you can tell from the
first photo. To tell you the truth, the only reason it didn't go
to the crusher years ago, like many other '67 and '68 fastbacks
we crushed, was simply because we never got around to it!
As you can see by the second photo, it took a lot of new sheet
metal, including all new front frame rails, shock towers,
complete floors, taillight panel and left rear quarter panel, to
bring it back from the edge of death! With a new lease on life,
we decided to put one of the original Eleanor body kits that
David and I bought from CVS (Cinema Vehicles Services), the
company that built the original Eleanors for the 2000 hit movie
Gone In Sixty Seconds. The third photo shows the car shortly
after it came out of the paint booth and it is simply gorgeous!.
The Blue Eleanor has recently been purchase from a very happy
customer in Denmark. For that simple reason we have not finished
the full assembly. He has opted to finish the assembly on his
own. How ever we have put a new Smeding small block 427 Windsor
motor. This motor has been dyno tested at 470HP, and 571Ft. lbs
of torque. So there will be plenty of ponies to power this
beautiful machine. We have also installed a new PAOD transmition,
which will be able to handle the power of this torquie motor.
For braking this car has been equipped with front and rear SSBC
Force 10 braking system. When this car gets up to speed there
should not be a problem bringing it back to idle. For handling
this car has a Total control coil over front set up, and rear 5
mid eye Grab-a-Trac rear leaf springs. This should bring this
powerful car through the corners quite smoothly. Extreme
steering response is what you will get from the power Total
Control Rack and Pinion set up we have installed. We also feel
it is important to be as comfortable as possible with the
steering wheel in hand. That’s why we chose to install a
stainless steel polished full adjustable tilt steering column.
This will allow the driver to get the best feel for the steering
wheel at any angle they choose.
