This well worn 1969 SportsRoof, code named Project V-32, is currently being built at The Restomod Shop in Stockton, California. Project V-32 gets it's name from the 32- valve Mustang Cobra motor that's being transplanted into its engine bay. Project V-32 was in very poor condition when the Restomod restoration was started. No doubt it traveled hundreds of thousands of miles during it's lifetime because every corner of the body had been damaged at one time or another. When it became non operable, Project V-32 had been stripped of it's good parts and left to sit out in the unprotected weather for many years. This resulted in the need for complete floors, trunk floors, fenders, door skins, a right quarter panel, tail light panel, valances, hood and trunk lid. Because it needed so much work and it wasn't a Boss, Mach I or an "S", "Q" or "R" code, it was perfect to build a Restomod Mustang out of!

One of the first new products we're working on at The Restomod Shop is a better front suspension system for the classic Mustang enthusiast who wants to put a larger size engine, dimension wise, into a 60's Mustang and still have it ride, drive and handle like a dream. Mustang II style front suspensions are great for going straight, but their short control arms and lack of travel tend to make them prone to a lot of bumpsteer as well as riding stiffer than most people desire. We took the opportunity with Project V-32 to design a front shock tower that would give us enough room for that new 4-cam Cobra motor; or, for a big block 460 that many hard core Ford fans love. It will work with the Ron Morris Performance Street Force Tubular Front Suspension Kit which is a great improvement over the stock front suspension and the Mustang II style suspension.

As you can see in these photos, not only does our new shock tower give all kinds of room for the 4-cam Cobra motor, the Ron Morris Performance Street Force Tubular Front Suspension Kit fits perfectly. To design the shock towers, we turned the project over to Terry Simpson who has been designing and building racecar chassis for many years. Strength and driveability were the two factors that Terry kept in mind during the design process. We also wanted to offer this suspension set up to our customers in the future so a jig was made to make future shock towers. The Ron Morris Performance Street Force Tubular Front Suspension can be ordered with different spring rates so ride and handling can be adjusted to suit different needs and desires. Current plans are for our new shock towers to be available as a product that will be offered to our customers or as an item that we can install.

The 4-cam Cobra motor we chose to use is a production line unit that we bought from Ford complete with the factory 5-speed. With the floor out of Project V-32, we took the opportunity to make sure the engine and transmission would sit correctly in the car and be at all the right angles before building a custom transmission mount. Stop in and see Project V-32 and the many other neat Restomod restorations that are underway at The Restomod Shop that next time you're in our area.
