When
the price of over $15,000.00 was released for the new Dynacorn
1967-1968 Mustang body shell, it seemed like a lot of money. Or was
it? It made us wonder that if you bought a wrecked Mustang fastback
and repaired it, could you save money over the price of the Dynacorn
body or was the Dynacorn body a good buy at $15,000.00 plus? It was
then that "Project Reclaim" was born. We decided we would take a
totaled Mustang out of the wrecking yard and bring it back from a
twisted pile of junk to the same condition as a new Dynacorn body
and compare the cost.
In essence, we would "Reclaim" a Mustang that was destined for the
crusher. During my next conversation with Donald Farr at Mustang
Monthly Magazine, I told him about Project Reclaim. He arranged for
Jim Smart to come to Mustangs Plus to cover the project. Because we
were so far along on the Blue Eleanor project and hadn't taken
enough pictures of it during restoration, we went out into the
Mustangs Plus bone yard and found this 1966 fastback for the
project. Be sure to stay tuned. You'll start seeing Project Reclaim
in Mustang Monthly, soon!
