When one of our customers called us to arrange shipping to The Restomod Shop for his 1966 Mustang Convertible from his home in Nevada, none of us knew what an adventure we were in for! Upon getting the little 6 cylinder convertible to The Restomod Shop, we were all dismayed to find it full of rust from many years of being on the east coast. Not wanting another Mustang but wanting to restore HIS Mustang, the owner asked us if we could save it. Sure thing, we told him, so "Rusty" headed off to be media blasted.
When Rusty returned, the poor little Mustang was litterly in three pieces as you can see by the first two photos. Still, the owner wanted to press on and save his Mustang. During the next few weeks, all the rusty sheetmetal was cut out and new panels were installed. This included a new fire wall, complete floors, frame rails, quarter panels, trunk floor, taillight panel and fender aprons. By the time you read this, Rusty will no longer be rusty and will probably be wearing a new Candy Apple Red paint job! Then it's back to the owner so he can put his Mustang all back together and enjoy!
Rusty Goes Home! To A New Life and Identity.....
(August, 2007)
How about that! Rusty isn't rusty anymore! The 1966 Mustang Convertible that we nick named Rusty has been repaired, painted and sent home to his owner. Over the next few months, he will put the little Candy Apple Red convertible back together to enjoy as a "Trusty" steed. We can't wait until Rusty, er, "Trusty", as we've now re-named him, is completed and back on the road again. Below are some pictures of Trusty!
